Frequently Asked Questions

Registration:

Who is eligible to play?

Any player who resides or attends school within the boundaries of the Floral Park-Bellerose School District may register for Floral Park Little League.

Do I have to show proof of residency and age?

Yes.  All first time Spring season players must upload 3 proofs of residency as well as a copy of their birth certificate.  You will be prompted to upload these during registration.  All documentation must be provided prior to January 7 or your registration will be cancelled.  Returning players may skip this step.

Do I need to complete the School Enrollment Form?

Only those players who live outside the boundaries of the Floral Park-Bellerose School District but attend a school within those boundaries need to complete the School Enrollment Form. (i.e. live in Elmont but attend Our Lady of Victory).

Which division should I register for?

Divisions are based on player age.  Once you have logged into our site you will be presented with the age appropriate division for both baseball and softball.

How do you determine player age?

FPLL is chartered by Little League International and must abide by the Little League International age chart.  Baseball play age for Spring 2024 is determined by the player’s age on August 31, 2024.   Softball play age for Spring 2024 is determined by the player’s age on December 31, 2023.  Your child’s actual age may differ from their play age and, depending on their month of birth, may differ from some of their school classmates.  Play age will not be adjusted for social reasons.

When is registration for Spring 2024?

Registration opens on November 23, 2023.  We are offering an early bird discount of $20 through November 30, 2023.  A $30 late fee takes effect on January 1, 2024.  Registration closes at midnight on January 7, 2024.

What is the non-resident fee?

The $30.00 non-resident fee is charged to all players who do not reside within the boundaries of the Incorporated Village of Floral Park (e.g. those who live in Bellerose Terrace or Bellerose Village) to pay for costs related to the use of village resources.  Residents of the Incorporated Village of Floral Park pay this fee through their tax bill.

I have multiple children, do you offer a discount?

Yes, we offer a sibling discount of $10.

I missed registration, is it too late?

Any registrations after January 7, 2024 will be placed on the waitlistPlacement on the waitlist is not a guarantee of a roster spot.  You will be notified if a roster spot becomes available and payment will be due in full within 24 hours of notification.  Failure to submit payment within this time-frame will result in being placed back on the waitlist.  Waitlisted players who are placed on a roster will receive a team jersey but the size is not guaranteed.  Inquiries about the status of the waitlist will not be answered.

Season Dates:

When will the Spring 2024 season start?

We anticipate the season starting in April.  More information will be available as we get closer to the Spring.

When will games take place?

Our younger divisions (rookie, camp, tee ball) will most likely play on Saturday mornings.  We will do our best to avoid conflicts with other sports but cannot make any guarantees.  The remaining divisions will play 2 or more games during weekday evenings and possibly weekends.  A full schedule will be posted prior to the start of the season.

Equipment:

What equipment do I need to provide?

Baseball players must provide a glove, white baseball pants, protective cup, a batting helmet, and cleats (no metal spikes).

Softball players must provide a glove, gray softball pants, a batting helmet, and cleats (no metal spikes).  A face guard is strongly suggested for the Minor division and up.

If you plan to purchase a bat, review this information to ensure you purchase a legal bat.

The league will supply jerseys and hats.

All equipment should be clearly labeled.

My jersey doesn’t fit, can I get a new one?

You will be prompted to indicate a jersey size during registration.  If your size is not included in the dropdown, select "N/A" and a league member will contact you after registration closes.  We will do our best to accommodate size request but there may be some discrepancies based on available stock (e.g. adult small instead of youth XL).

If your jersey does not fit, we will not be able to order new ones.  We recommend swapping with a teammate or a player from another division who has the same uniform.  Players who were granted spots from the wait-list are not guaranteed a specific jersey size.

Miscellaneous:

Can I request a specific coach, team, or teammate?

Floral Park Little League strives to create a fair balance of player skill across each team and division within the league. As such, requests for placement on specific teams cannot be guaranteed. Once teams have been assigned, there will be no changes made to the rosters.

Can I request a refund?

Refunds are at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Refunds requested between the opening of registration and the selection of teams are subject to a 25% fee.  Refunds requested after teams have been assigned are subject to a 50% fee.  No refunds will be offered once the season has opened.  Late fees, service fees, and non-resident fees are not refundable under any circumstances.

Who is responsible for the fields?

All fields are owned and maintained by the Incorporated Village of Floral Park.  Managers and coaches should inspect the fields for any dangerous conditions prior to each game.  Immediate issues should be reported to both the league and the village.  Floral Park Little League is not permitted to perform any work/maintenance on the fields.
