All parents of children involved in Little League Baseball and Softball are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a parent volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. Floral Park Little League offers two volunteer roles; Team Manager and Assistant Coach.
Team Managers serves as the point person for the team. They are responsible for communicating with the league and parents, organizing practices, setting lineups, etc. Assistant coaches serve as the support system for the team manager, often as a base coach or filling in when the team manager is not available.
Little League now requires that all managers and coaches complete a comprehensive background check as well as an abuse awareness training course. The updated requirements mean that any potential volunteers must register on our website no later than January 7. We will not be able to add volunteers to the system after this date.
You will be prompted to complete the volunteer form while registering your child. Alternatively, the form can be found on our website, www.floralparklittleleague.com, under the Registration Info --> Volunteer heading. Please be sure to complete the form for each division in which you wish to volunteer (i.e. you have multiple children in multiple divisions). This form must be completed each year and is the first step in being selected as a manager or coach.
When completing the form, it is best to use a desktop or tablet instead of your phone. All required fields must be completed and if a text box does not apply to you, you must enter “n/a” in the field. A photo of your government ID is also required to be uploaded.
Please note that submission of this form is not a guarantee that you will be selected as a manager or coach. We receive over one hundred submissions each year and the number of volunteers is dependent upon league enrollment.
In the event you are selected, a member of the Board of Directors will reach out to you to complete a formal Little League background check, provide a link to the abuse awareness training, and obtain any additional information that is needed. This background check and training course must be completed before team selection. Once all requirements are met, you will receive an FPLL ID card.
Reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.
